- As part of this position, I am entrusted to teach students English without supervision, both on a one-to-one level and in the form of larger classes, where I am frequently required to speak both English and Mandarin Chinese in order to provide students with a more complete understanding of a particular aspect of the English language.
- In order to successfully perform this position, I am frequently required to think fast; in order to answer any query a student may ask, whether that be an English language based question or regarding an entirely different topic.
- This position provides me with additional experience at interacting with a wide-ranging demographic, due to the differences in ages and backgrounds of students.
- An additional requirement of this position is to plan and conduct an “English corner”, where I inform students of global, geo-political events, both past and present in order to increase their general knowledge.

- My key responsibilities during this position were to assist the University of the West of England in its attempts to recruit Chinese students to attend its courses, and assist those students who already intended to attend the university with any question or queries they had on an ad-hoc basis.
- On occasions, I was required to travel to other parts of China, in order to perform presentations that could attract new students to the university.
- During this position, I was required to work independently, without supervision as I was based in a location where members of management were not present, and as such I was trusted to complete tasks without supervision.
- Additionally, I was responsible for the creation and running of a local English corner in the Chinese university that I was stationed.
- This position provided me with additional experience of the running and management of how a large Chinese organization is administered and managed.

- As part of this position, my duties included paying close attention to detail whilst proof checking company advertisements and giving general advice on how to attract customers.
- I was heavily involved with the establishment of a subsidiary company and gave advice, based on my Western background on how to attract more Western and international customers.
- Furthermore, I gave general English language advice to fellow staff members and assisted in the recruitment process of new staff members.
- This position taught me the value of building close working relationships with both fellow staff members, and those from other organisations.

- Here I worked as an intern for an established patent / trademark law firm with high profile customers.
- I carried out duties such as fact and data gathering from different trademark / patent laws across the world.
- This included contacting many national governments in order to find out relevant information.
- Furthermore I proof checked company e-mails to ensure that the grammar was correct.

- I was responsible for maintaining customer’s mobile phone insurance policies and helping customers to make claims when necessary.
- I would also have to resolve any problems where the customer said they were going to make a complaint to the financial services authority.
- This company was regulated by the Financial Services Authority and in order to carry out my duties professionally, I had to comply with the Data Protection Act in order to avoid a fine for both the company and myself.
- I also had experience in the administration department where I used a scanning machine in order to add new post and e-mails received on to the system, which then allowed their individual claims to be assessed.
- Furthermore this position included me using sales skills in order to sell particular mobile phones to customers when a replacement was needed as part of their insurance claim.

- Whilst I attended sixth form, I worked part-time as a waiter in the silver service Ostler Restaurant within the Hotel. During which time I gained experience working as part of a team.
- Working here taught me the importance of punctuality and how to give polite customer service and satisfaction. Furthermore, as part of this position, I was responsible for delivering food to customers in a speedy and professional manner, as well as occasionally serving drinks.
- I would also have help customers to the best of my ability when a problem arose and also help with any special requests.
- The hotel at which I worked was a large complex with restaurant and swimming pool facilities. There were approximately 200 rooms as catered for people of an affluent nature due to the facilities there being so highly thought of.

- During my work experience placement I worked in an office based environment and performed various administrative duties. These duties included posting letters of appropriate houses to clients who were looking to purchase a new house.
- Furthermore, I also accompanied other members of staff on house viewings, in order to gain an experience of what estate agents look for when trying to value and sell a property.
