Taught English to engineers and technicians at Duhok Gas Power Station for eight months. Delivered instruction at the plant and lived on site in container accommodation. Subsequently taught business management and English language at the Canadian Education Center in Erbil.

Deployed as part of a dedicated team to ensure the safety of merchant ships as they transited the Gulf of Aden. Answering directly to the Captain of a ship, the team prepared the vessel, briefed the multinational crew and provided coordination with military assets to ensure safe passage.

Platoon Commander
The Battalion’s primary function was to ensure internal security along the South West border region of the Northern Ireland. Fully engaged in all aspects of the battalion’s life and work, took a team to the Nijmegen March, was Captain of the shooting team and supported the Officers’ Mess when not on operational duty.
