
Work Experience
EF – English First China (November 2016 – Present, 2014-2015)
Taught English classes for ages 3 and above with a set curriculum as well as student driven learning. Was assigned to multiple centres in both Shanghai and Chongqing.
Instructed both adults and children in the use of the oral and written language. Used both curriculum based learning, as well as real-life scenarios as instructional tools.
Spearheaded the Teen Academy program that focused on acclimatizing Chinese students to the Western world. Created the first lessons, which were then used country-wide.
Maple Leaf International School, Chongqing (August 2015 – October 2016)
High school Communication Skills teacher for grade 10 students.
Created individualized lessons plans as well as a part of the curriculum for a variety of students with ability levels ranging from low to intermediate.
Also taught Mathematics and Science for grade 9 reach-ahead students – which gave me experience teaching students of a higher English level.
Also helped with certain clubs and extracurricular activities.
Confidence Tutoring Services (November 2011 – September 2014)
Tutor for primary and high school children experiencing difficulties coping with Advanced Functions, Calculus, Chemistry, Biology, and English.
Taught students who were trying to learn English as a second language, including instruction on grammar, pronunciation, sentence structure, spelling, and rhetoric.
Imperial Window Cleaning (April 2010 – August 2011)
Partner in a small business that catered to outdoor residential cleaning, including- window cleaning, pressure washing, eaves-trough flushing, and garden work.
The key concepts behind running a business have proved to be an invaluable experience in today’s consumer market.
Understanding and utilizing customer service skills became a key facet of the operation, given that the majority of clients were found by canvassing door-to-door.
Volunteer Experience
UNICEF Kenya (2010)
During the summer of 2010, I traveled to Kenya where I undertook a personal mission to better educate Canadians as to the AIDS epidemic in Africa.
I worked with UNICEF representatives in the slums of Kibera and Korogocho, outside the capital city Nairobi.
Working with an Ottawa-based NGO, World Inter-Action Mondiale, I gave presentations on my experiences in Africa to increase AIDS awareness, which included a seminar to a group of professors and students at the University of Ottawa.
ESL Teacher (2008-2014)
Taught English and Mathematics to ESL children ranging from the age of five to sixteen from Afghanistan and Pakistan who had recently sought asylum in Canada, due to political conflict in the area.
Bait Ul-Ilm Teacher (2011-2014)
Instructed classes of up to 25 students on issues of faith, and spirituality as a Shia Imami Ismaili in a modern world.
Given the nature of the instruction, this provided key experience in classroom dynamics and control, as well as adapting teaching styles to different types of students.
Personal Experience
Have resided in a number of countries, including England, India, Pakistan, China and Canada. This has given me a very open-minded and pluralistic view on society, and the many cultures and races that reside within it.
I can speak four languages fluently, namely, English, Hindi, Urdu and Kachi. I also have an intermediate level of French, and a beginner’s level Mandarin.

Bachelor of Arts from Carleton University with a major in Psychology and a minor in Law.
Advanced TESOL Certificate (120 Hours) from Global TESOL College, Ottawa, Canada, with a specialization in TOEFL training.
Attained a High School Diploma from All Saints Catholic High School in Kanata, Ontario.
