工作经历
My first teaching experience was gained in Cambodia in 2008 as a volunteer at a school for students who were unable to afford tuition fees. This position taught me the need to make lessons relevant to the students that you are teaching, as well as the importance of an enthusiastic approach to lessons by the teacher. I also gained valuable experience teaching large classes with very few resources. My second teaching position was within an English Language school in Shanghai, teaching students aged from three to 12 years old in classes of up to 18 students. In this position, which I occupied for 20 months, I learned how to approach the planning of lessons differently for students of differing ages and abilities. I discovered the need to have a variety of teaching methods to suit the different learning styles found in a typical classroom, and to keep the childrens’ attention for the duration of the class. Through the use of different songs and games, I allowed my students to learn by seeing, hearing, and moving. My most recent teaching position was in a Taiwanese cram school teaching both preschool and older students. Classes often included over twenty students and I taught several different curricula which were written to cater to the needs of students of differing ages and abilities. I was required to teach using Total Physical Response and Grammar mapping methods. I received a substantial amount of training in areas such as classroom management, flexible teaching styles and age appropriate lesson planning. At the end of my employment with this school, I was awarded a TEFL certificate in recognition of the training in which I participated. After leaving this position, I completed my CELTA course in order to further develop and refine my teaching skills and to gain some experience of teaching students of a higher age and level than the students I taught previously.
